Israel Continues Airstrikes against Iranian Targets in Syria
In the early hours of Saturday, several military bases in Hama province of Syria were targeted by Israeli airstrikes.
According to SANA, Israeli fighter planes “targeted one of the bases of the Syrian army in Hama.”
Based on the report, the Syrian anti-air defense shot down some of the missiles and the attack resulted in the destruction of several buildings and injury of 3 soldiers.
But France News Agency reported that 17 Syrian regime’s soldiers and militia were injured, and several Iranian forces were killed by the attack.
Human Rights Watch in Syria also told France News Agency that Israel has targeted a military school of the Syrian regime, a mid-range missile development facility in Zavvi village which belonged to Iranian forces, and an Iranian training facility in another village was also targeted.
This is not the first time that Israel is attacking Iranian bases and targets in Syria. Since the beginning of the Syrian war in 2011, Israel has repeatedly targeted the positions of the Syrian army, Iranian forces, and Hezbollah in Syria.
Last March, an attack on an Iranian armory left 7 Iranian forces dead. In January, another attack left 21 dead which were mostly Iranian.
Netanyahu has repeatedly stated that he will not allow Iran and Hezbollah to establish their bases in Syria.
