Netanyahu: Attacks on Iran’s Positions in Syria Will Continue
Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel said that in his recent meeting with Vladimir Putin, he made it clear that Israel’s attacks on Iran and Hezbollah’s positions in Syria will continue, and they will be coordinated with the Russian army.
During the Sunday cabinet meeting, Netanyahu stated that he made it clear that the attacks will continue, and Israel and Russia will open a special channel to avoid any mistakes between the forces of the two countries.
Russia is an ally of Assad and its forces have been in Syria in the past 4 years.
Netanyahu continued: “Mr. Putin and I reached an agreement, that the foreign forces in Syria that arrived there after the civil war must now leave the country.”
He added that Russia and Israel have agreed to form a “joint military force” in order to reach this goal.
Russian officials have previously stated that they want other forces to leave Syria, while Russia is planning on a long-term presence in that county.
The Israeli army has targeted Iranian bases and positions in Syria hundreds of times, while Russia has not reacted to these attacks. Iran has accused Russia of coordinating with Israel and turning off its S300 missile air defense system when Israel is attacking.
