Netanyahu: Iran’s Regime Is the Focus of My Discussions in Warsaw
Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, said that during the “Peace and Security for the Middle East” summit in Warsaw, he will meet and talk with American officials regarding Iran’s regime.
On Sunday, Netanyahu wrote on his Persian Twitter account that he will meet with Vice President Mike Pence, and State Secretary Mike Pompeo, and other world leaders.
In his tweet, he stated that the “primary focus of discussions will be the Islamic Republic,” and said that there will be deliberations on preventing Islamic Republic’s military expansion in Syria, neutralizing the regime’s “violent behavior” in the region, and “preventing the regime from developing nuclear weapons”.
Poland has not invited any Iranian officials to this summit.
Previously, Mohammad Javad Zarif, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic had claimed that Americans have failed to make Iran the primary focus of Warsaw summit and therefore the summit is “doomed to fail”.
Zarif claimed that the Americans “withdrew from their initial position” and “changed the topic of Warsaw summit and announced that Iran is not the topic on this summit.”
However, although In their joint statement, U.S and Poland have not named Iran directly, the issues such as terrorism and missile production which have been mentioned in the statement are referring to Iran’s activities.
In his interview on Fox News, Mike Pompeo directly named the “Islamic Republic” and said the aim of this summit is to remove the threats in the middle east.
