Netanyahu: Iran Attempts "Daily" Cyber Attacks on Israeli Infrastructure
Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel says that Iran attempts cyber attacks on Israeli infrastructure daily.
In his speech at Cyber Tech in Tel Aviv, Netanyahu said: "Iran’s regime attempts cyber attacks on our infrastructure daily, and we monitor and thwart these attacks.”
He described his country’s cyber defense as “the highest level in the world”.
Iranian officials have previously accused Israel of cyber attacks. One of the most famous attacks was the project know as “Stuxnet virus” which attacked Iran’s nuclear sites.
A report by the European Union Agency for Network and Information Security (ENISA) on Monday, said that the risk of Iran’s cyber espionage has increased.
The report claims that the Islamic Republic hackers are among the biggest threats against Europe’s digital security, and predicts that if the JCPOA negotiations fail, Iran’s cyber activity in Europe will increase.
Germany’s ministry of State also released a report last year that raised concerns about Iran’s increasing cyber attack capabilities. The report talked about the possibility of cooperation between Iran and Russia.
Iran has also been accused of cyber attacks and cyber blackmail in a report by the National Information Department of the United States.
In September, Guardian reported that According to the assessment made by the British Cyber Security Center, Iran was involved in attacks on the emails of several members of parliament.
