Pompeo: Any Attack by Iran Will See Swift and Decisive Response
On Thursday, the U.S Secretary of State Mike Pompeo stated that his country is not seeking war with Iran, but he promised: “swift and decisive response” to “any attack” by Iran.
Pompeo wrote: "Our restraint to this point should not be mistaken by Iran for a lack of resolve.”
The United States recently announced an aircraft carrier and nuclear-capable bombers have been deployed to the region, based on information regarding plans for Iranian-backed attacks.
Pompeo continues: "But Iran's 40 years of killing American soldiers, attacking American facilities, and taking American hostages is a constant reminder that we must defend ourselves."
Two days ago, CNN reported that what concerned American military officials, was the fact that Iran had moved its ballistic missiles with boats in its southern coasts.
CNN analysts said they were unsure whether transferring these missiles is being done so that they can be launched from the water, or for the United States to lose track of their locations so it cannot destroy them before launch.
The United States also has bases in Arab countries of the Persian Gulf and in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Brian Hook, the head of Iran action group also stated recently that the United States does not seek war, but negotiation with Iran.
