During his visit to Egypt, Mike Pompeo, the United States’ Secretary of State said in his speech at Cairo University that United States’ role in the middle east has been positive under President Trump. Pompeo said that “countries are making more effort to stand against Iran’s influence in the region.”

According to Pompeo, these efforts include “reducing Iran’s oil export, not allowing Iran to evade the sanctions, fighting against terrorism in Europe, and isolating Iran’s corrupt banking system.”

He also said that JCPOA (Iran Nuclear Deal) is filled with lies, and the sanctions should have never been removed.

Secretary Pompeo strongly criticized former President Obama’s "naïve and nervous foreign policy facing middle eastern conflicts". He also criticized Obama for ignoring the growth of the Iranian-backed Hezbollah movement in Lebanon to the detriment of Israel's security and not doing enough to push back on Iran-supported rebels in Yemen.

Pompeo added that as long as Tehran doesn’t act like a normal country, and as long as the Islamic Republic continues its policies, there will not be peace and security in the region.

He also mentioned Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, and Jordan as allies of Washington in neutralizing Iran’s ambitions.
