Rouhani: Iranian officials have no interest in traveling to U.S

President Hassan Rouhani said in a press conference in New York that the Islamic Republic officials have no interest in traveling to the US and they only go there to attend UN meetings.

In response to a question about President Trump barring Iranian officials and their families from entering the United States, Rouhani said: “We come here for the United Nations, and America has no right to limit our access to UN.”

President Trump issued an order on Wednesday barring Iranian officials and their immediate family members from entering and living in the United States.

The proclamation reads: “Given that this behavior threatens peace and stability in the Middle East and beyond, I have determined that it is in the interest of the United States to take action to restrict and suspend the entry into the United States, as immigrants or nonimmigrants, of senior government officials of Iran, and their immediate family members.”

Rouhani once again denied Iran’s role in the attacks against Saudi Arabian oil facilities, saying: “All the world knows that Yemeni forces (Houthis) and Yemen’s army have long-distance missiles and drones and have attacked Saudi Arabia many times before.”

Last year, Brian Hook, the US Special Representative for Iran held an exhibit of Houthis equipment, drones, and missile remains which indicated that they were all Iranian made.

Rouhani also supported the idea of relocating the UN to another country and claimed that the US is exploiting its status as the host.

The president of the Islamic Republic also criticized European powers for being “powerless and unwilling” and not wanting to bear any costs. He announced that Iran has taken its third step toward leaving the nuclear deal (JCPOA) and warned that if the Europeans do not “comply with their commitments,” Iran will take the next steps.

Rouhani also claimed that the Iranian public opinion blamed President Trump for the country’s problems due to US sanctions.
