Rouhani: Negotiation with United States is not off the table
While demanding the end of sanctions, President Hassan Rouhani said that if the U.S changes its behavior, negotiation is not of the table (“road to negotiation is not blocked”).
According to IRNA, during the Wednesday cabinet meeting, Rouhani stated that Iran doesn’t care about “the talk”, and continued: “Whenever they decide to end their injustice toward us and stand by their commitments and come back to the negotiation table that they kicked over, there won’t be an obstacle in their way.”
He claimed that “the resistance of Iranian people” has caused contradiction within the U.S government. He added: “If the U.S decides to change its behavior, the people of Iran will leave a door open for them.”a
He continued: This Ramadhan people’s needs were not easily met, and people are still living under heavy pressures.
On Monday, President Trump stated in Japan that he is not after a regime change in Iran. He said the United States is willing to negotiate with Iran and that Iran can be a great country with the same leaders.
Trump also welcomed Prime Minister Abe Shinzo’s offer to mediate between Iran and the United States. Abe is traveling to Iran next month to reduce tensions between the two countries.
