Russia: American drone was in Iranian airspace
Nikolai Patrushev, Russia’s Secretary of the Security Council says that according to his country’s military, the American drone which was shot down by the Iranian forces was in Iran’s airspace at the time.
While attending the security summit with Israel and the U.S in Jerusalem, Patrushev said any attempt to present Iran as a threat to international security is unacceptable.
Patrushev went on to say that the evidence that the United States has presented with regards to Iran’s attack on the oil tankers are “in low quality and unprofessional”.
On Thursday, June 20, Iranian forces shot down an unmanned American drone in the Persian Gulf. Iran has claimed that the drone was in Iranian airspace, while the United States says it was over international waters.
A few days before the attack on the drone, two oil tankers were attacked in international waters in the Gulf of Oman.
U.S Central Command, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and many other American officials said Iran was responsible for the attacks.
The Islamic Republic is also accused of the attacks against four oil tankers near Fujairah in UAE last month.
