Takht-Ravanchi: U.S did not listen to our warnings, what we did was legal
Majid Takht-Ravanchi, Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations repeated the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ official position that Iran warned the United States several times before shooting the drone down, and the U.S Airforce did not listen to the warnings.
On Monday, June 24, after the emergency U.N Security Council meeting about Iran, Takht-Ravanchi said what Iran did was in accordance with international laws. Responding to an answer regarding negotiation with the United States, he said: “No logical and bright mind would agree to negotiate with a country that imposes sanctions. They imposed new sanctions even today.” He added that it is the United States that must be pressured to return to the nuclear deal and Iran will never agree to negotiate under pressure.
He also suggested that the United States should compensate Iran for leaving the nuclear deal (JCPOA), and said in order to deescalate the situation in the region, the U.S must pull out its battleships.
On Monday, President Trump imposed new sanctions against Iran which include the supreme leader Ali Khamenei’s assets. Trump repeated that the United States wants to negotiate with Iran.
