Trump: It is time for Iran to put its people first
In his speech at the United Nation’s General Assembly, President Trump urged Iranian leaders to put their people first.
President Trump stated that one of the main threats to the peace-loving countries in the world is the “repressive regime in Iran,” adding: “The regime’s record of death and destruction is known to us all.”
“Not only Iran is the world’s number one state sponsor of terrorism, but Iran’s leaders are fueling tragic wars in Syria and Yemen. At the same time, the regime is squandering the nation’s wealth and future in a fanatical quest for nuclear weapons and the means to deliver them.” He continued: “We must never allow this to happen.
President Trump went on to say that he pulled out of the Iran nuclear deal and imposed severe sanctions on the regime in order to stop the Islamic Republic from achieving its goals.”
Trump also mentioned the recent attacks against Saudi Arabian oil facilities for which US, Europe, and Saudi Arabia have blamed Iran: “Hoping to free itself from the sanctions the regime has escalated its violent and unprovoked aggression. In response to Iran’s recent attacks on Saudi Arabian oil facilities, we just imposed the highest level of sanctions on Iran’s central bank.”
He continued: “No responsible government should subsidize Iran’s bloodlust. As long as Iran’s menacing behavior continues, sanctions will not be lifted, they will be tightened.”
“Iran’s leaders will have turned a proud nation into just another cautionary take of what happens when a ruling class abandons its people and embarks on a crusade for personal power and riches,” Trump warned.
He went on to say that for the past 40 years since the Islamic Revolution in Iran, the world has listened to Iranian leaders lashing out at others for the problems that they alone created.
The president also mentioned the regime’s main chant of “death to America” and its heavy and open anti-Semitism and the fact that last year the leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei, stated: “Israel is a cancerous tumor that needs to be removed and eradicated. It is possible, and it will happen.” Trump warned: “America will never tolerate such anti-Semitic hate.”
“Iran’s citizens deserve a government that cares about reducing poverty, ending corruption, and increasing jobs. Not stealing their money to fund massacre abroad and at home,” Trump said.
He advised the leaders of Iran that “after four decades of failure, it is time to step forward and stop threatening other countries and focus on building up their own country: “It is time for the leaders of Iran to put Iranian people first.” Adding: “America is ready to embrace friendship, with all who geniuinely seek peace and respect.”
He also pointed out that many of America’s closest friends today were once its greatest foes: “We want partners, not adversaries.”
Trump also mentioned his efforts at making peace with other countries: “America knows that while anyone can make war, only the most courageous choose peace. For this same reason, we have pursued bold diplomacy in North Korea.”
He also mentioned US efforts for peace in Afghanistan and the fact that the Taliban has rejected these efforts.
