15 Workers Sentenced to Lashing and Prison for Demanding Their Wages

The Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) reported that 15 workers of HEPCO company in Arak were sentenced to lashing and prison.

The workers had organized a gathering on the factory site in protest to not receiving their wages for several months and the unclear future of the company. Branch 106 of Arak Revolutionary Court has sentenced these workers collectively to 24 years and six months in prison and 1110 lashes. The verdict was issued collectively, and it has been suspended for five years.

According to HRANA, these individuals were charged with “disrupting public order through illegal assembly and demonstrations”.
