Khamanei Warns the Government: Do Not Be Deceived by Europe
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the supreme leader of the Islamic Republic warned the Rouhani government to be careful in their negotiations with Europeans and not fall for their tricks.
On Monday, Khamenei said: “The animosity of the U.S is obvious. But the Europeans try to deceive us now as well. I will not tell them (the government) what to do, but the officials must be careful not to be deceived.”
He added that the Iranian officials “should not cause problems for the country just to try something.”
Khamenei did not mention a specific case, but his comments are directed at the talks with Europe for saving the nuclear deal (JCPOA).
Since the United States exited the JCPOA, the supreme leader of the Islamic Republic has mostly raised concerns about negotiations with Europe. But he has not directly opposed it.
Khamenei told the officials: “Know the enemy well and be careful not to be deceived, whether when they show their fist and teeth, or when they smile at you.”
While referring to the Warsaw summit, Khamenei said: “Weak minded foreign officials or idiots get angry and struggle and hold Warsaw summit which leads to nowhere.”
He continued: “Today our enemy, the United States, is in trouble; both domestically and abroad. It is in conflict with leaders of other countries.”
He asked the Islamic Republic authorities not to fear the foreign governments and said: “When the enemy is weak, it barks and boasts. These barks and boasts should not scare our officials.
