Zarif: Iran will not start the war

In a joint press conference with the German foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif demanded an end to the “economic war” of United States against the Islamic Republic and said this is the only way to reduce tensions in the region.

On Monday, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas met with Zarif in Tehran to try to reduce the tensions between Iran and the United States.

Regarding the possibility of war in the region, Zarif said Iran “has not started any war” but the country that will start the war “will not be the one to finish it”.

Heiko Maas also said that his country will do all it can to stop a war in the region.

Maas also asked Iran to comply with its commitments in JCPOA and promised that in the near future, the new trade system between Iran and Europe will begin its function.

The German Foreign Minister is supposed to meet with President Rouhani in the afternoon.

Iran has been blaming the EU for not complying with its commitments under the JCPOA.

Recently Iran issued an ultimatum to Europe to comply with JCPOA and announced that it has restarted low-grade uranium enrichment.
