Oman Recognizes Israel as a Sovereign State

Oman’s foreign minister, Yousef Bin Alavi, says Oman recognizes Israel as an agreeable sovereign state in the Middle East.

The sentiment was expressed after the visit from the Israeli prime minister.

Yousef Bin Alavi says Oman will not mediate between Israel and Palestine, but they have ideas for peace between the two sides.

Oman has played the role of Middle East’s mediator for years, including in negotiations between the Islamic Republic and the United States in 2013 which led to JCPOA in Geneva two years later.
