Mike Pompeo, the U.S secretary of state announced that his country is ready to provide aid to flood-stricken Iranians through Red Cross and Hilal Ahmar (Red Crescent) organizations.

According to Washington Post, while sympathizing with the victims of flood in Iran, Pompeo announced that the United States is ready to provide aid to Iran, but only through Red Cross and Hilal Ahmar organizations.

Pompeo blamed Iran’s government for “mismanagement” in face of emergency and crisis conditions and in city planning.

Before Pompeo’s statement, some Islamic Republic officials including Javad Zarif, the foreign minister, had accused the U.S government of blocking transfer of money and humanitarian aid to Iran’s Hilal Ahmar through U.S sanctions.

However, humanitarian aid is excluded from the U.S sanctions.

The recent floods in Iran have taken the lives of over 60 people and injured dozens, with billions of damages to houses, lands, and infrastructures.
