UAE Confirms Four of its Ships Were “Sabotaged”
The foreign ministry of the United Arab Emirates reported a sabotage operation near Fujairah port.
Previously, Fujairah port officials denied the occurrence of explosions but in the afternoon the media outlets reported that four commercial ships in the east of Fujairah port in Oman Sea were targeted with a sabotage operation.
The UAE foreign ministry announced that no one was hurt in the incident and there was no oil spill.
The statement has not elaborated on the details of this “sabotage operation”.
The foreign ministry of UAE called the incident “a dangerous development” and a threat to the security of international waters.
Abdul-Hamid Ahmad, the editor of Gulf News claimed that Iran orchestrated this attack through Houthi militias.
He said: “Iran wants to have a strong hand and a good position when negotiating with the United States, and this attack is the execution of IRGC’s threats.”
Previously, Houthis had threatened to attack targets in Emirates in response to the military operations of the Arab alliance in Yemen.
The group has not accepted responsibility for these explosions yet.
