Former IAEA official: Iran is 6-8 months away from a nuclear bomb
Olli Heinonen, the former deputy of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced that Iran is six to eight months away from enriching enough uranium for a nuclear bomb.
In an interview with Haaretz, Heinonen said: "Israelis need to be worried, and the Gulf states also have reason for concern." He continued: "How will you be able to ensure your security if Iran achieves nuclear abilities?"
According to Heinonen, despite IAEA’s claims, Iran is only 6 to 8 months away from developing a nuclear weapon and Tehran has not been adhering to the 2015 nuclear deal.
He also slammed IAEA for their handling of Iran’s threat. He claims that the agency has ignored Iran’s race to achieve nuclear weapons.
In Heinonen’s opinion, even President Trump’s decision to leave the JCPOA has served Iran: “The Ayatollahs can handle the new sanctions, and in the meantime, they’re making new centrifuges.”
Recently, Iranian officials announced that the country will resume uranium enrichment if the European countries do not hold up their end of the deal.
