Pompeo in Israel: COVID-19 and Iran are our two critical threats
As U.S Secretary of State Mike Pompeo arrived in Israel to discuss annexation of the West Bank to Israel and Iran’s threat, he tweeted: Glad to be in Israel to coordinate with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and Benny Gantz on countering two critical threats: COVID-19 and Iran. Israel and the United States will take on these challenges side-by-side.
Pompeo went on to say that the campaign to "reduce the resources that the ayatollah has to inflict harm here in Israel and all across the world has "borne fruit, it has been successful, and we’re going to stay at it."
He added that the ayatollahs have been trying to initiate global terror while the people of Iran have been particularly hard-hit by the coronavirus: "It tells you about the soul of those people who lead that country."
After Meeting with Benny Gantz, Pompeo tweeted: U.S. commitment to Israel has never been stronger. Speaker of Knesset Benny Gantz and I discussed ways to strengthen U.S.-Israeli coordination in the fight against COVID-19 and our continued line of efforts to counter Iran's dangerous activity in the region and around the world.
Gantz thanked Pompeo for the United States’ steadfast support while it stands by Israel as both countries battle against global terrorism. “I’m looking forward to work with him and by his side to achieve peace, regional understandings, and ensure Israel’s security,”
