Rouhani: Iran’s arms sanctions will be lifted next year

The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hassan Rouhani, said in a speech in Kerman on Monday that according to the terms of the nuclear deal also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Iran’s arms sanctions will be lifted next year.

“We negotiated with 6 countries. The United States left the agreement. Some said you should also leave the deal immediately and some said to stay in it under any circumstances. People of Iran! Know that by staying in the JCPOA, by next year we will achieve a massive political and security goal,” Rouhani said.

The president of the Islamic Republic also mentioned the economic pressure on Iranian families and said those who have fixed incomes are under more pressure than other groups. He claimed that about seven million families have a relatively good life, and about 18 million families need help.

He went on to say that the radicals are causing problems for his government, but he did not clarify who the radicals are. He emphasized: “There are differences of opinion on which road to choose and which road will get us to our destination.”

Yesterday in Yazd, Rouhani strongly criticized the judiciary for not going after the big players in corruption cases and asked about the confiscated money in a massive embezzlement case.

The spokesman for the judiciary immediately responded by claiming that some of the people involved and indicted in the corruption cases have been promoted in the Rouhani administration.
