Federica Mogherini, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs once again urged Iran that further breach of the nuclear deal will make it more difficult to reverse.

Mogherini began her speech by emphasizing the significance of the nuclear deal, saying: “The (Persian) Gulf is incredibly close to Europe. It is part of our region, and the security situation in the Gulf is closely connected to our own security… We do not want to see a military escalation in our region, nor do we want to see a nuclear arms race in a region that already knows so many tensions.”

"We invite Iran to reverse the steps and go back to full compliance," Federica Mogherini said.

Mogherini continued: “I want to be clear, the more Iran moves in this direction, the more difficult it would become technically to reverse.”

According to Mogherini, Iran’s decisions are still reversible at this stage and do not indicate an unequivocal decision or intention by Iran to revert to its nuclear program.

She also claimed that without the deal the situation in the middle east would be much worse.

Yesterday, the leader of the Islamic Republic called the European parties of the deal “shameless” for asking Iran not to scale back on its compliance with the deal.

Mogherini stressed that no one says they want war, but “in a region like that, miscalculations can happen and can lead to extremely dangerous spirals of confrontations.”

She repeated that the EU is determined to save the JCPOA and will do everything in its power to do so.
